DUAL - SCRIPT LETTERING
Playing and experimenting with Hebrew lettering.
Based on a swift acquaintance and an overview of a few common styles in Hebrew type design, participants will create an original piece of lettering. The lettering can be drawn by whichever tool participants choose, from pencils and pens to type design applications. We will try and develop a lettering piece that will combine and involve the Hebrew and Latin scripts, discussing the visual relationship between the two alphabets. We will address issues of tradition, modernity and originality alongside readability, memorability and other functional aspects.

Participants are welcome to bring their own lettering or drawing tools, laptops  etc.
No prior knowledge of Hebrew is required.

THAI FOR TYPE DESIGNERS
This workshop will ground designers in the practical aspects of the Thai writing system, familiarise you with the letters and examine the different ways they appear in type and lettering. We’ll explore the tools and gestures that underpin handwriting to develop an initial set of characters in your preferred style. We’ll set up a framework for digital typemaking that helps achieve consistency and responds to common questions and difficulties. No prior knowledge of Thai is required.

Please bring: pens, pencils, notepads and for those who want to work digitally, laptops with font editing software (Glyphs, FontLab or Robofont).
